The City of Carroll announced Sunday the Rec Center would be closed Monday after Gov. Kim Reynolds asked for limitations of gatherings that include groups of 50 or more and for the closure of Iowa schools for at least four weeks. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says they continue to work with local healthcare partners to make decisions around the Covid-19 outbreak that are in the best interest of citizens and the employees who work in their facilities.
He says they will make a decision on the Rec Center for the rest of the week yet today (Monday). Pogge-Weaver says, however, they have already decided to close access to other critical services.
The goal, he says, is to maintain business as usual on their end as it relates to serving the residents of Carroll. This will require some capacities of the city council to continue.
City leaders are also looking at the proposed opening of the Carroll Public Library on Monday, March 23 and activities associated with that.
Pogge-Weaver says city staff has been working for a few weeks to plan and make operational changes aimed at keeping critical services operational. Updates will be posted to the city’s Facebook page, a special website created for Covid-19 details and they will keep the media posted about any changes. Links to these resources can be found below.
