Manning Man Accused Of Using Vehicle As Weapon Sentenced Monday In Carroll County District Court

A Manning man accused of deliberately crashing his car into another vehicle was sentenced earlier this week in District Court for Carroll County. According to court records, the order against 29-year-old Brice Edward Shrimpton was handed down Monday. Shrimpton was originally charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony, and child endangerment and domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon, both aggravated misdemeanors. The charges stemmed from an incident on Sept. 9 in Carroll. Shrimpton used his 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix to strike the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle more than once, causing an estimated $9,000 in damage. The victim and a juvenile male were in the other car at the time of the incident. Shrimpton pled guilty to the misdemeanor charges and the felony count was dismissed as part of an agreement reached with prosecutors. He was sentenced to two, two-year prison terms with all but seven days suspended and placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. Nearly $1,700 in fines and surcharges were also suspended, and Shrimpton is required to pay almost $9,000 in victim restitution.
