Administrators from the IKM-Manning Community School District (IKM-M) have released additional information for students and families impacted by the four-week closure due to the coronavirus. Beginning Monday, March 23, the district will begin offering lunches every Monday while the school remains closed. A week’s worth of meals will be provided in each sack in a grab-and-go manner and can be picked up from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the middle school entrance in Manning, the Irwin school or in Manilla outside the gym. Parents and guardians will be sent a survey today (Thursday) to help determine how many meals will be needed. Teachers will be offering educational resources and opportunities for students through email or Google Classroom while school in not in session. While these are not required, students are encouraged to participate. The IKM-Manning buildings will be open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. today (Thursday) for students, parents and staff to collect personal belongings and clear out lockers and desks. The number of people allowed in at one time will be limited. Staff will be directing the traffic in and out and the district asks for compliance and patience and to move as quickly as possible in retrieval of items. Band instruments can be picked up outside the main offices. The school board has a meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight in the high school library. To avoid gatherings of more than 10 people, they are working to provide streaming options and methods for people to provide comments during the public hearing on the 2020-21 school calendar.
