More area schools are rolling out their free grab-and-go meal programs for students while classes are canceled through mid-April due to the coronavirus. South Central Calhoun (SCC) is offering breakfast and lunch today (Thursday) and again tomorrow (Friday) from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Advance signups are appreciated, but not required, and a link to register can be found included below this story. Two pick-up sites are available: the high school auditorium door in Lake City and the middle school eastside overhead door. Starting Monday, March 23, the program will expand to six locations. Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Rockwell City Grocery’s parking lot and near the Community Building in Lake City and from 11 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Lytton gazebo bus stop, the Lohrville and Jolley Community Buildings and the Lanesboro post office. The district asks participants to limit the number of individuals with you while at each location and to not enter the building in order to limit potential exposure. East Sac County’s program also started today (Thursday) with two meals per child available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday while the school is closed. Meals can be picked up from the north gym doors at Wall Lake Elementary, the west doors at the high school in Lake View, the north parking lot at the middle school and from Auburn City Hall. Families of children with special dietary needs are asked to complete a brief survey, a link to which is also included below. Ar-We-Va’s program started Wednesday with sack lunches and snacks available from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for the rest of the week at the school in Westside, Arcadia City Hall and the Vail Community Building. Next week, sack lunch and breakfasts will be available at the same times and locations Monday through Friday. On Monday, March 30, the program shifts to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
