Photos: some of the masks Meg Snyder has already received for delivery and some of the fabric left by an anonymous donor
On Wednesday, owner of Quilting and Sew Much More in Carroll, Meg Snyder, put out a call to area needleworkers for the production of masks to be used around the community and region. This morning (Thursday), she arrived at her shop to find an estimated 10 to 15 pounds of polycotton fabric pre-cut into one-yard pieces outside of her door. Snyder says the generous donation did not include a name or any other identifying information, but she wants thank the donor. She also wants to let everyone know she has a whole lot of fabric to give out. Snyder got word from many other organizations that say they would be very happy to have her deliver masks to them.
There is a specific pattern for the McFarland Clinic masks that can be found through a link to the Mary Greeley website included below. This pattern must be followed using pre-washed polycotton or 100 percent cotton. Snyder says she does not know how many of these they will need to produce or for how long, but she would like to have a surplus on hand for any other requests that may come in. The amount each person can produce, no matter how big or small, is invaluable, but some of the components are in short supply.
Snyder details how much elastic it takes for each mask.
And Snyder is anxious to dive in and produce some of these herself as she has been so busy organizing and delivering supplies to others she has yet to be able to sew even one. She is planning on deliveries Monday, March 30. She will need the masks dropped off at her shop by tomorrow or Saturday at the latest. Special arrangements will need to be made for a Saturday drop off. Snyder can be reached through any of the contact points below or at Quilting and Sew Much More, the address to which can be found there as well.
