While everyone is being advised to wash their hands frequently and for the appropriate amount of time, to regularly clean off high-touch areas and to self-isolate as much as possible, many people may overlook one of the biggest germ carriers in their lives. Cell phones are notorious for being a breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria. Some reports say they have been found to carry more than six times the germs found on a toilet seat. The most up-to-date information on the coronavirus says it can live from two hours all the way up to nine days on metal, glass and plastic surfaces. Because of this, cellular carriers are advising their customers to regularly clean their phones, cases and carriers. Apple, Samsung and Google all have tips online on how to properly clean your devices and it is highly recommended that you not share your phone with others and do not take it into a restroom. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that these high-touch items be cleaned at minimum every day. Links to those tips can be found below.
