More businesses are being ordered to close for the next two weeks as Gov. Kim Reynolds and her staff work to flatten the curve on the spread of the novel coronavirus. The Capitol is closed and legislators are working remotely. Twelfth District House Representative, Brian Best, says it is a very fluid situation for them as they work to help residents and businesses through this crisis.
Best says in addition to granting the governor additional powers to work with the Legislative Council on handling this situation, they took one more important step before leaving last Monday.
Best says with many pieces of legislation left on the table when the Capitol closed, he thinks it will be hard to say what they will be able to get done when the 2020 session resumes.
Most policy bills worked on when they reconvene, Best believes, will be those that help the residents and businesses recover from the pandemic. Best and his family live and own a business in Carroll County and he says they, like everyone else, are working to gather as much information as possible as they learn how to adapt to the declared disaster.
