While the Carroll County Courthouse remains closed to the public, county officials have started making preparations to expand access for necessary services, such as deliveries or third-party equipment maintenance. The topic was briefly discussed during their special meeting Wednesday. Chair, Rich Ruggles, says they are working to acquire equipment that will allow them to quickly and efficiently screen people before they enter county facilities.
Initially, the thermometers will be used to screen employees before they are allowed to work. This plan is still in the early stages, and Emergency Management Coordinator, Sara Anderson, says they have a lot of questions to answer before this can be implemented fully.
Anderson adds temperatures need to be taken at least twice per day for each employee: upon their arrival and again later in the day. The supervisors will also have to determine who will be monitoring the doors and documenting the temperatures. There is no scheduled date at this time for when the courthouse will be reopened to the public for in-person services. The supervisors did not take any official action Wednesday, but the county’s COVID-19 response is on the agenda for Monday’s meeting.
