The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports the number of COVID-19 cases in the state has grown to 497 as of noon on Tuesday. One additional coronavirus-related death, a Muscatine County resident between the ages of 41 and 60 years old, was also reported today (Tuesday), bringing Iowa’s total now to seven. Of the 73 additional cases, 72 are in counties that have reported at least one already. Fifty-seven of Iowa’s 99 counties have reported at least one confirmed infection, with Clay County the newest addition to the growing list. Linn, Polk and Johnson Counties remain the hotspots in the state with 90, 76 and 73 cases, respectively. Current data for the listening area shows Crawford, Carroll, Audubon and Guthrie Counties each have had a single confirmed case so far. Iowa’s testing capacity continues to grow with 6,888 negative tests recorded as of Tuesday. However, large-scale testing is still not feasible due to supply limitations. State officials suggest Iowans should act as if the virus is circulating in your community, even if a case has not yet been confirmed there.
