Duane Brant of Lanesboro

Duane Brant, age 82, of Lanesboro passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Swan Place in Carroll.
A private family funeral service will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home on Monday, April 6, 2020 with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating.  Casket bearers will be Duane’s brothers and honorary casket bearers will be his nieces and nephews.  Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery near Ralston.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on July 6, 1937 on his family’s farm near Scranton, IA, he was the son of Roy and Loretta (Carstens) Brant.  He grew up on the farm and graduated from Glidden High School in 1955.  Following high school he worked various jobs including grain elevators in in the Glidden area and one in Des Moines.  Duane also owned and operated a Gurnsey dairy farm for 48 years which was his passion.  He also did custom sheep shearing for many years.  He played fast pitch softball for several local teams over the years.  Duane was married to Diane Eischeid on January 13, 1968 at St. Augustus Catholic Church in Halbur.  The couple lived on their farm west of Ralston for many years and later moved to Lanesboro.  The couple made and sold crafts at various shows throughout Iowa.  Diane passed away in 2012 and Duane continued to live in Lanesboro until moving to assisted living in 2018.
Duane is survived by his siblings and their families: Marlene Remsburg (Randy) of Audubon, Ron Brant (Carol) of rural Glidden, Karen Henning (Otis) of Prairie City, IA, Phil “Butch” Brant (Susie) of rural Glidden; and many other extended family members including 13 nieces and nephews.
Duane was preceded by his parents Roy and Loretta Brant; his brother Larry Brant; and his wife Diane.
