The East Sac County (ESC) Community School District has started to roll out their voluntary enrichment program and issued guidance today (Tuesday) to families with prekindergarten through fourth-grade students. At these grade levels, students can utilize prepared educational packets, which will be available for pickup on Thursday, April 9. Students who attend the Wall Lake Elementary can pick up their materials from the school from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. or from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. They will also be available from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. or 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the east side of the high school in Lake View or at the Auburn Library from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. or 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parents are asked to stay in their vehicle with their front passenger seat empty, as packets will be directly placed there to limit contact. Families should contact teachers directly if somebody other than the student’s parents will be picking up their packet. Directions on use are included in the materials. Middle school teachers will be using an online delivery system through their respective Google Classroom pages that nearly all classes have been using throughout the year. At the high school, instructors will be utilizing a similar system through Canvas, an online learning management platform, to post two to three lessons on Wednesdays beginning April 8. Feedback will be provided for work submitted by the Tuesday of each week. School officials stress the work is voluntary and will not be graded. However, all students are encouraged to complete the provided materials. By choosing the voluntary educational delivery method, ESC will not be required to make up missed instructional time between April 13 and 30. Students and families are asked to keep a close eye on their emails and the ESC website for possible changes to the program.
