Two Jefferson men were lucky to sustain only minor injuries in a head-on collision Saturday morning. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and Jefferson Fire Department responded to the 1200 Block of 180th Street, northwest of Jefferson, at approximately 8:04 a.m. Seventy-two-year-old Roger Custer was eastbound on 180th in a 1991 Chevrolet K2500, pulling a trailer with a tractor on it. Sixty-six-year-old Thomas Custer was westbound on 180th in a 2011 Chevrolet K1500. Heavy fog did obscure visibility and the vehicles collided head-on. Both men were transported to the Greene County Medical Center.
