Teen Uninjured After Hitting Tree While Trying To Avoid Deer

A teenager who veered for a deer is uninjured after striking a tree. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident scene on Swan Lake Drive at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Sixteen-year-old Gracie Sue Alspach of Carroll was traveling southwest in a 2012 Ford Focus. As she approached a curve, she saw a deer in the roadway and reacted, losing control, entering the south ditch and striking a tree. There was an estimated $7,000 in damage to the Focus and Alspach was cited for failure to maintain control.
