The Storm Lake Police Department reports an investigation intoa Tuesday morning brawl has resulted in the arrest of a Storm Lake man on drug trafficking charges. Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:10 a.m. to the 300 block of Ontario Street in response to a fight involving multiple individuals. Upon arrival, law enforcement located three male subjects, 28-year-old Christopher Deese, 20-year-old Joshua Werge and 19-year-old Mure Werge, all of Storm Lake. According to authorities, the incident was the result of an alleged assault by Deese in which he attacked the victim by choking and striking them in the face. Joshua and Mure Werge were charged with disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor, and released pending a court appearance. Deese was booked into the Buena Vista County jail for disorderly conduct and domestic abuse assault strangulation causing bodily injury, a class D felony, and released. During their investigation, law enforcement was notified of possible drug activity at Deese’s residence and executed a search warrant Tuesday afternoon. A quantity of marijuana prepackaged for sale and other drug-related items were located. Deese was taken into custody again and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was released a second time on a promise to appear. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
