Jefferson Man Tased And Taken Into Custody Following Careless Driving Complaint

A careless driving complaint in Jefferson led to a chase, the Tasing of a suspect and an arrest in Greene County early Thursday morning. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson Police Department received the complaint at approximately 1:38 a.m. and both departments responded. An officer and a deputy attempted to stop a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in the 100 block of North Cedar Street, but the driver, 32-year-old Steven Dzuris of Jefferson, refused to comply and continued to drive erratically. The officers pursued Dzuris until he stopped near the intersection of South Cedar and East Monroe Streets. But as Dzuris attempted to flee in his vehicle again, he was Tased by the deputy. He then continued to resist being arrested. Dzuris was subdued and transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement center. He has been charged with eluding, interference with official acts, assault on persons in certain occupations, reckless driving and failure to obey a stop sign.
