IDPH Confirms 534 New COVID-19 Cases And 4 Additional Coronavirus-Related Deaths Monday

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 534 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed today (Monday), bringing the state’s total to 9,703. Gov. Kim Reynolds also announced during her daily press conference four more coronavirus-related deaths were identified, marking 188 deaths to date. These numbers are in addition to the 1,285 new COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths reported over the weekend. Reynolds again noted many of these new cases are occurring in areas were virus activity is prevalent. Of the 534 new infections confirmed Monday, 85 percent are associated with the 22 Iowa counties where full restrictions remain in place. As for case numbers in the listening area, Sac and Calhoun Counties remain at a single case each, Audubon County now stands at eight and Greene County is at 11. Carroll County Public Health confirmed Monday afternoon Carroll County’s case count had increased to five. Guthrie County saw an increase to 29 cases following the confirmation of an outbreak at a long-term care facility late last week. Crawford County spiked to 78 cases from just 24 on Friday, May 1.
