The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 293 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the state as of Wednesday morning. With these new positive tests, Iowa’s total now stands at 10,404. Twelve additional coronavirus-related deaths were also identified, marking 219 deaths to date. As of May 6, 89 of Iowa’s 99 counties have recorded at least one positive case with approximately one in 50 Iowans having been tested for the virus through the State Hygienic Laboratory, private labs or the Test Iowa initiative. Gov. Kim Reynolds traveled to Washington D.C. Wednesday to provide an update to President Donald Trump and the Coronavirus Task Force on the status of COVID-19 in Iowa and did not hold a press conference this (Wednesday) morning. However, the daily updates will resume later this week. As for case numbers in the listening area, Calhoun and Sac Counties are unchanged at one and two cases, respectively. Carroll County stands at five confirmed infections, Audubon at eight and Greene at 11. The hotspots in the listening area are in Guthrie with 31 cases and Crawford County at 103.
