The Carroll County Board of Supervisors have set June 1 as their target date for a limited reopening of the courthouse. In recent weeks, county officials have been preparing for its eventual reopening by installing plexiglass shields where customers interact with staff and developing strategies for how business will be conducted. Supervisor, Gene Meiners, stresses June 1 target is not set in stone and subject to change.
Sheriff, Ken Pingrey, says he is planning to open his office on Friday, May 15. However, they are drastically changing how customer interactions will take place.
Treasurer, Jean Seidl, says her office generally sees the most day-to-day traffic but does not believe the Treasurer’s Office needs to reopen fully to conduct necessary business.
Guidelines for customers wanting to enter the courthouse after June 1 still need to be established, specifically regarding the use of masks while inside. Emergency Management Coordinator, Sara Anderson, details what other businesses and agencies are recommending.
The board will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and adjust their plans as necessary.
