COVID-19 Cases In Iowa Total 11,457 With 243 Coronavirus-related Deaths

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports the state’s COVID-19 case count has reached 11,457 with the confirmation of 403 new cases this (Friday) morning. With these new cases, 93 of Iowa’s 99 counties have confirmed at least one infection since the start of the pandemic. State health officials also identified 12 additional coronavirus-related deaths, pushing the total to 243 deaths to date. Gov. Kim Reynolds did not hold a press conference Friday due to scheduling conflicts created by Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to Iowa. May 8 marked the easing of several more state restrictions, including the reopening of campgrounds, dentist offices, tanning facilities and other similar businesses with some mitigation measures still in place. As for case numbers in the listening area, Calhoun and Sac Counties remain at one and two cases, respectively. Carroll County stands at six, Audubon at nine and Greene at 13.
