A Saturday evening fire may lead to drug charges against at least one resident. The Carroll Police and Fire Departments responded to a kitchen fire in an apartment at 818 W. 8th Street at approximately 6:16 p.m. Fire Chief, Greg Schreck, says the tenant had utilized a fire extinguisher and managed to put the fire on the stove top out before their arrival. Firefighters cleared the apartment of smoke before returning to the station. However, while on the scene, suspected narcotics were located by Carroll officers and sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation laboratory for testing. Charges are pending the return of those results.
