Three area seniors have been selected as winners of the Carroll County Agricultural Scholarship. The 2020 award from the Carroll Chamber of Commerce and Carroll County Cattlemen’s Association will provide $250 to each of these students in support of their post-secondary agricultural education. Grant Borkowski, son of Dave and Lisa Borkowski of Carroll, is a senior at Glidden-Ralston High School and will attend Iowa State University in the fall, pursuing an ag business degree. He says he has spent his entire life in and around crop production and livestock and he is excited to follow his passion for agriculture. Kuemper Catholic High School senior, Nathan Kroeger, son of Kevin and Michelle Kroeger of Carroll, will attend Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny to study ag business. He wants to work on expanding his knowledge, using it to promote efficiency and productivity in crop production. And Ashley Onken, daughter of David and Betty Onken of Glidden, is a senior at Carroll High School and will study business at Iowa State University this fall. Her goal is to work in an agricultural bank or become a Certified Public Accountant who specializes in serving farmers. These scholarships have been made possible through the donations from Carroll area businesses, the Carroll County Cattlemen and proceeds from a 1987 livestock auction.
