Seventh Carroll County COVID-19 Case Identified Wednesday Morning

Carroll County Public Health identified a seventh positive case of COVID-19 on Wednesday morning. Public Health Nurse, Sara Schulte says the individual is in the 81 and older category. Privacy regulations restrict the amount of information that can be revealed about any patient, and Schulte says there will be no more details released. Contact tracing is underway and those who have been in contact with the individual will be notified and advised of their next steps. Public Health Director, Nikki Schwering, says they continue to urge all residents, regardless of age, to take preventative measures to continue the flattening of the COVID-19 curve. “It is important for everyone to stay home as much as possible and to practice social distancing—this simply means stay away from groups of people, to keep a six-foot distance from other individuals and wear a mask in public if unable to maintain [an] appropriate distance.” Those who experience the main symptoms of coronavirus—fever, dry cough and difficulty breathing—are asked to call their healthcare provider, who will then determine what action will be taken. More information on area counties and the statewide reported numbers can be found at www.coronavirus.iowa.gov.
