Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) in Lake City continues to plan for their upcoming annual two-mile Fun Run/Walk in June. The Saturday, June 27 event will begin on the west side of the city square in Lake City and feature a new element this year with a Stuff the Truck food drive. Proceeds from t-shirt sales will benefit their area food pantries and participants are asked to bring non-perishable items the day of the race for donation. Registration is open now and is $10 prior to May 31. This includes a t-shirt. Registration after May 31 until 8:15 a.m. on race day will be $15 and t-shirts will be given to participants, but they will be ordered later and not given out that day. If the run/walk is cancelled, there will be no refunds made, but t-shirts can be picked up at the hospital. The kick-off on June 27 will be the Kids Dash for children nine and under at 8:15 a.m. There is no charge and kids will sign-up on site. The main race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top two finishers in each age category and wheelchair as well as to the pre-registered oldest and youngest.
