The Jefferson Police Department has opened an investigation into an attempted burglary late last week. At approximately 9:04 a.m. Friday, they received a report from A & W in the 300 block of North Elm Street that someone had attempted to gain entry. The subjects were able to access the roof and tried to enter through an air exchange unit, causing some damage. Recent video surveillance is being reviewed in an attempt to identify the subject(s).
