Statewide COVID-19 Case Investigations Changes Carroll County Positive Count To Seven

On Monday, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced changes to the state’s COVID-19 website and asked for patience as they move to cloud-based technology, enabling updates on cases as they occur. Carroll County Public Health Director, Nikki Schwering, says part of this process and the TestIowa initiative is to correctly assign cases to the appropriate counties. As this work is being conducted, it has resulted in a correction to the official positive case count for Carroll County, which now stands at seven. Schwering also says that as new cases are discovered, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) will notify the county public health departments to begin case investigation. They will work to confirm the county of residence of the individual and dial in to a home address. While conducting this verification process, case numbers can change throughout the day if duplicate patients or the incorrect county or home address is reported as well as when addresses are initially missing. The online stats will be refreshed as cases are entered or edited. Also on Monday, Carroll County Public Health reported that any specific information that is allowed to be reported on a positive case will now be done by the state as aggregate numbers instead of by each individual county. These numbers and the most up-to-date information on COVID-19 in Iowa can be found at coronavirus.iowa.gov.
