Carroll Man Cited For Animal At-Large After Escaped Bloodhound Seriously Injuries Another Dog

A Carroll man has been cited for animal at-large after his dog allegedly escaped his yard earlier this month and attacked another animal. According to an affidavit from the Carroll Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:15 a.m. on May 10 to a report that a Pomeranian had been bitten near the intersection of Simon Avenue and 16th Street. The at-large animal, a bloodhound named Bliss and owned by 31-year-old Matthew Alvin Prenger, was located a few blocks away from the scene being loaded into a family vehicle. Authorities say the bloodhound had escaped by digging a hole beneath a backyard fence and located the Pomeranian in the 1600 block of Quint Avenue. It allegedly bit the smaller dog around the midsection. According to law enforcement, the dog’s wounds were so severe it was not clear at the time if it would survive the injuries. Prenger’s initial appearance for the simple misdemeanor charge has been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 13.
