The Sac City, Breda and Wall Lake community pools are scheduled to open in the coming weeks for lap swimming and lessons, but they are still waiting on the go-ahead from Gov. Kim Reynolds to open fully for the 2020 season. The Sac City Council met this (Friday) morning to discuss the issue more in depth. Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, says they have developed a plan for the summer.
When that might be is still uncertain. The latest proclamation from Reynolds allows aquatic centers to be used for only exercise or swim lessons through at least mid-June. According to Lawrence, they are in the process of prepping the pool for swimmers, but it will be some time until it is ready.
The Breda City Council also met Friday to discuss their plans for the pool. They approved a plan to partially open on Monday, June 8 to the extent they are allowed. Only season pass holders will be permitted at the pool through June 19 with swimming lessons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. daily and lap swimming from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Staff will disinfect all areas of the pool routinely, and individuals are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines while at the facility. The Wall Lake City Council announced similar plans earlier this week. Swim lessons are to be offered beginning June 8 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. To sign up for lessons, contact the respective pools directly using the information included below.
