Today Is Last Day Of Absentee Voting Before Tomorrow’s Primary

Iowa Secretary of State, Paul Pate, is expecting this year’s absentee voting will set a record after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the mailing of ballot request forms to every registered voter in the state. Today is the last day to participate in early voting as any mailed-in ballots must bear today’s postmark to be viable and in-person absentee voting will close at 5 p.m. tonight. Those who need a ballot or would like to drop off their absentee form at the Carroll County Courthouse can do so, but they cannot enter the building. Everyone is asked to go to the window on the northwest side of the front doors of the courthouse. A staff member from the Auditor’s Office will provide assistance from there. The pandemic has also impacted the ability to staff and safely operate the traditional number of polling locations across Carroll County. For this reason, there will be one in-person voting site tomorrow (Tuesday). Those wishing to cast a ballot in person must go to the First United Methodist Church at 1621 N. Main Street in Carroll. The polls there will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Please allow extra time as they may reserve the right to restrict the number of people in the polling location at one time and will be taking extra cleaning measures as well. All voters will be required to provide an approved form of ID. Those who cannot do so must have another registered voter attest to their identity.  Carroll Broadcasting will be providing updates on-air and online after the polls close at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
