Glidden Announces Beginning Of Summer Mosquito-Spraying Season

With the first official day of summer less than three weeks away, the region will soon begin to see an increase in the mosquito population. In response, many communities will spray periodically for the pest, including the City of Glidden. While the Glidden Public Works Department does not have a set schedule for these treatments, they generally spray about once per month during the summer or as needed. Spraying can only occur on days in which wind speeds do not exceed 10 mph and the risk of precipitation is minimal. City officials are asking the community to do their part in keeping the mosquito population in check by reducing breeding habitats on private property. Remove standing water whenever possible and apply pesticides as needed. Individuals with chemical sensitivities or breathing difficulties are encouraged to stay indoors while treatments are occurring. Glidden will post to social media when spraying is scheduled, and a link to their Facebook page can be found included below.
