Manning Residents Invited To Attend June 16 DOT Meeting To Learn More About Proposed Changes To Hwy 141

The City of Manning is inviting residents to attend a public meeting later this month with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to learn more about a proposed change to Highway 141 in town. The DOT is planning to complete road resurfacing and widen the shoulder next year on the fifteen-mile stretch of road between Highway 59 and Manning. State and city officials are exploring the feasibility of extending the project through Manning. Work would include resurfacing and updates to intersections to make them compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. When completed, the road would be repainted and converted from a four-lane highway to a three-lane with a center turning lane. The Tuesday, June 16 meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Manning City Hall. Attendees will hear a brief presentation from the DOT and have any questions they may have about the project answered. The city council is expected to vote on the proposal later this year with construction planned for 2021. The project would be entirely funded through the State of Iowa if approved in its current form.
