A Carroll man accused of felony drug possession has entered a not guilty plea to the charge levied against him in District Court for Carroll County. According to court records, 37-year-old Raymond Charles Hurt Jr. filed his written plea last week to one count of third-offense possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and is scheduled for trial on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The charge stems from a traffic stop by the Carroll Police Department on Jan. 25 at the intersection of Mockingbird Drive and High Ridge Road in which officers located a quantity of methamphetamine on his person. The charge carries a habitual offender enhancement due to Hurt’s numerous prior convictions for possession and possession with the intent to deliver in Carroll County. Hurt faces up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
