COVID-19 pandemic or not, Lake View is a “Great Place to Drop Anchor,” and they are reminding everyone of that as their theme for the 2020 Water Carnival. The City of Lake View has announced they will be holding their annual event this summer, on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18 only, but there are some COVID-related changes. The Black Hawk Men’s Club will host a beer garden on both Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday’s planned activities include a 5K road race in the morning and yoga on Black Hawk Lake. The street parade will take place, but will be traveling a longer route to allow for spectators to spread out and maintain recommended social distances. Art in the Park is still on the docket as is a bags tournament in the beer garden, boat races and the Little Miss Black Hawk Pageant. Saturday night will close out the festivities with a $1,500 cash drawing and fireworks. There will not be a Parade of Water Floats or the Bill Riley Talent Show this year. And as we navigate through the near future in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers say plans may be changed at any time. More details will be released at a later date about the addition of other activities or changes to the schedule.
