The final day of operation for one of Carroll’s most popular dining locations, Charlie’s Steakhouse, will be tomorrow (Saturday), as they vacate the space for Baratta’s Steakhouse to move in. Carrollton Centre General Manager, Rachel Brotherton, says the restaurant had a great run, but the pandemic put too much of a strain on them and their employees to continue serving customers in the capacity they had become accustomed.
Brotherton says the decision to close the restaurant in the Carrollton Centre was difficult, but it was made easier after they worked out a deal with Baratta’s Steakhouse to transition into the space.
The owners of Baratta’s Steakhouse, John and Heidi Baratta, also run the Lincoln Club in Glidden. They did not renew their lease at their location in Santa Maria Winery on Highway 30 earlier this year due to the pandemic, but Heidi says they intended to return once circumstances improved. As restrictions become less strict, Heidi says they saw this as a great opportunity to move into the new space. According to her, one of the best parts of the move is they will be able to combine customer favorites from both restaurants.
The specifics of the transition are still being worked out, but Baratta says they are planning to open for customers around July 8. They have announced they will honor any outstanding Charlie’s Steakhouse gift certificates and will announce how that will be handled early next week.
