No Injuries Reported In Monday Morning Collision Near Swan Lake

No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident just south of Carroll this (Monday) morning. According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 6:13 a.m. at the intersection of Mahogany Avenue and 220th Street near Swan Lake State Park. An initial investigation revealed a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado K1500, driven by 71-year-old Ronald George Berger of Carroll, was traveling south on Mahogany. At the same time, a 2008 Ford F250, driven by 30-year-old Robert William Hicks of Toccoa, Ga., was traveling westbound on 220th and had stopped for the posted stop sign. Hicks then pulled into the intersection and failed to yield to the oncoming vehicle, colliding with the driver’s side of the Berger pickup. Hicks’ vehicle came to rest facing west on 220th while the Berger truck came to rest facing northbound in the west ditch. Damage to the Chevrolet is estimated at $3,500. The Ford sustained approximately $8,000 in disabling damage and needed to be towed from the scene.
