More COVID-19 Restrictions To Be Lifted June 12; Senior Centers, Pools And More May Reopen With Some Limitations

Gov. Kim Reynolds announced during her press conference this (Wednesday) morning that additional COVID-19 restrictions are to be lifted at the end of the week. According to Reynolds, the 50-percent capacity limitation for all businesses ends at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 12. However, the six-foot physical distancing requirements for certain establishments, including restaurants, bars and theaters, are to remain in place. Senior centers, pools and adult daycare programs will also be allowed to resume operations under these same guidelines Friday. She stressed these establishments are required to implement reasonable measures to ensure social distancing, increase hygiene practices and other public health measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission consistent with guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH). Reynolds says the decision to lift these restrictions stems from several weeks of positive trends in the data, which can be viewed at coronavirus.iowa.gov. As of noon on June 10, 22,620 Iowans have tested positive for the virus, 60.2 percent of which are considered recovered, with 628 coronavirus-related deaths reported to date. Here in the listening area, Audubon County stands at 13 total cases, Greene 15, Calhoun 16, Carroll 17, Sac 36, Guthrie 55 and Crawford County with 582. Test Iowa sites are opening this week at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll and St. Anthony Clinic in Denison.
