St. Anthony Regional Hospital announced today (Wednesday) they are taking steps over the next month to reopen services and departments. Patients are being encouraged to schedule routine medical and elective services and procedures. “Navigating COVID-19 has been a significant challenge,” says Dr. Kyle Ulveling, Chief Medical Officer at St. Anthony. “However, our team has become incredibly adept at protecting the health of our patients. We will continue to ask patients as they enter the hospital to answer a few health survey questions, get your temperature checked and wear a mask. These steps will help ensure patient safety as we reopen and return to providing much-needed health care services to west central Iowans.” Changes include the reopening of the clinic entrance under the blue canopy and, effective June 15, allowing one visitor for all patients. In addition to those mentioned by Dr. Ulveling, other precautionary measures will include: specified times at specific entry points, a detailed listing of which can be found below; plexiglass barriers have been installed in select areas between patients and staff members; patients will be taken directly to an exam room if at all possible; if not, the waiting room chairs will be organized to allow for social distancing; and frequent ongoing cleaning and sanitation efforts remain in place. For those not wishing to enter the clinic, Telehealth services are still available. At this time, there will be no visitors allowed at the St. Anthony Nursing Home or Garden View Assisted Living. For those exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, call ahead to your primary provider at 792-2222 for an assessment and further directives.
