Support From Carroll Residents Helps Businesses Ride The Wave Of This Pandemic

In April, Carroll native and self-professed “shop-a-holic,” Carly Pedelty, came up with a way to help area businesses through the economic hit caused by COVID-19 closures. Pedelty says as she thought about how much she missed being able to go into our local stores, she realized they were likely missing her, and her influx of cash, as well. She sat down with some of her co-workers and they worked through a plan on her idea of the development and sale of t-shirts that show the community’s solidarity through this difficult time.

And, the most important part to Pedelty, was the distribution of these proceeds through the Carroll Chamber of Commerce to spur the sale of gift cards and Chamber Bucks.  Pedelty was really surprised at how quickly the idea took off, and how much money the sales brought in through this effort.

Pedelty says she was extremely happy with the outcome.

Those who go to the Chamber and make a purchase of Chamber Bucks will get an additional five dollars for each $25 purchased, however, there is a limit. Pedelty says the word spread quickly, and she was contacted by other communities and helped them get similar sales underway. She now wants to send out a special thank you.

And she is grateful that so many people were willing to help these local businesses get through the pandemic as well. Those interested in purchasing Chamber Bucks can do so at their office at the Carroll Depot, 407 W. 5th Street and more information is available by calling 792-4383.
