The Lake View Police Department reports a man was injured Tuesday morning after he fell down an elevator shaft at a downtown business. According to authorities, the Lake View Police and Fire Departments and Sac County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched at approximately 9 a.m. to Dorothy Janes Bakery in the 400 block of Main Street. Upon their arrival, law enforcement located a Sysco Wholesale Food deliveryman at the bottom of the 10-foot elevator shaft. Crews were able to extract the individual and transport him to Loring Hospital in Sac City. He was later transferred to a Sioux City hospital for treatment of multiple broken bones in his legs and feet. Authorities say the man had entered the business through a rear garage to make a delivery and mistook the elevator access as an entry to the business.
