Carroll At Ballard

Carroll 16

Ballard 9

Carroll trailed 7-0 before taking over the game late and wearing down the Bombers on the hill. The Tigers snap a losing streak that reached back 5 years against Ballard. The last Tiger win also was by the final score of 16-9. Head Coach Ryne Young said the kids never quit.

The rally began in the 5th with Carroll scoring 8 runs. Jack Troutman had a 2 run double, Tory Feldman added a bases loaded walk, Troutman then scored on a wild pitch. Cade Schable grounded out but drove in a run, Slade Sibenaller, Ryan Johnston, and Colby Christensen all had bases loaded walks. Ballard tied the game with a run in the bottom of the 5th but Carroll scored 5 more times in the 6th. Schable started it with an RBI single, Nissen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Christensen then broke it open with a 2-run single. Treyton Goins capped the 6th inning flurry with another bases loaded walk.

Nissen and Feldman each had a multi-hit game. Christensen finished with 3 RBI and Nissen, Troutman and Schable all had 2 RBI.

The win moves Carroll to 1-0 with the suspended game against Carlisle to be finished July 3rd.

Ar-We-Va At Glidden Ralston

Glidden Ralston 6

Ar-We-Va 1

Glidden Ralston had 10 guys walk or get hit by a pitch on Wednesday night as they found ways to score runs on their way to a season opening win. The Rockets took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning as Will Ragaller had an infield single and then stole 2nd base before taking the next two bases on Wildcat errors. That would be the only time the Rockets seriously threatened against Grant Borkowski who was very good on the hill. Borkowski went 6 innings giving up 3 hits and no earned runs while striking out 9. He only walked 1 as well.

The big inning came in the 4th. The Wildcats scored a run in each of the first two innings before exploding for 4 runs on just 2 hits in the 4th. Grant Fleecs walked to start things and was followed by walks to Tyler Brant, Karter Kennebeck and Borkowski. Jared Free had a 2 RBI double and Nathan Brant added an RBI single. That lead would be enough.

Ar-We-Va finished with 3 hits as Ragaller added another single and Damon Ehlers singled in the 4th. Conner Kirsch walked for their other base runner. The Rockets fall to 0-2 and will travel to Boyer Valley on Monday.

Glidden Ralston sits at 1-0 and will play at Boyer Valley on Friday.

Coon Rapids Bayard At Audubon

Audubon 2

Coon Rapids Bayard 1

Audubon executed a squeeze play in the bottom of the 4th and that turned out to be the difference in a pitching duel. The Wheelers kept getting out of trouble, stranding 7 Crusader runners on base and 3 of them on 3rd.  Neither team hit it well as the Wheelers finished with 1 hit and Coon Rapids Bayard had 4 hits.

Pitching was the story for both teams. Joel Klocke and Aiden Alt teamed up for the Wheelers to allow 4 hits and 1 earned runs while walking 2 and striking out 9. Coon Rapids Bayard got great nights on the hill from Peyton Clipperton, Preston McAlister and Kale Pevestorf. The three allowed a combined 1 hit and 2 runs with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts. They did combine to hit 4 batters though.

The Wheelers improve to 2-1 while Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 1-1. The Wheelers play at Underwood on Thursday while Coon Rapids Bayard host Kuemper.

East Sac At SE Valley

East Sac 9

SE Valley 7                              (9 Innings)

East Sac scored 3 runs in three different innings last night with the biggest being the 9th inning which sealed the deal on the win. Griffin O’Neill singled and moved over on a hit and run by Josh Wernimont. Conner Teagels hit a slow roller past the mound and O’Neill scored to put the Raiders up. A Sac Fly and a bases loaded walk helped give them a little cushion.

SE Valley took a 2-0 lead in the 1st before the Raiders had their first three run inning in the 4th. The Jaguars tied it up in the bottom of the 4th and then went back up 4-3 in the 5th. East Sac answered with a 3 spot in the 6th to go up 6-4. SE Valley tied it again in the bottom half. It stayed that way until the 9th.

The Raiders scored 9 runs on 8 hits but got clutch hits when it mattered. Griffin O’Neill went 2-3 with a pair of RBI. Josh Wernimont went deep with for his first home run of the season. He added 2 RBI. East Sac wanted to be aggressive on the bases this season. They finished with 7 stolen bases.
