Lake View City Council Moves Forward With Proposed Limitations For On-Street Parking

The Lake View City Council is moving forward with a new ordinance that will limit the amount of time motor vehicles can be continuously be parked on streets. City officials unanimously approved the second reading of the proposed ordinance at their meeting earlier this week. Administrator, Scott Peterson, says the ordinance will restrict vehicles from remaining in the same spot for over 72 hours.

Peterson adds he does not expect the ordinance will need to be used frequently. He explains how the new rule will be enforced once approved.

The ordinance does not contain any language pertaining to residential parking. Peterson says it is a blanket limitation on long-term parking that will not be an issue for most people if their vehicle is used semi-regularly.

According to Peterson, the council has not heard any opposition from the public on the proposed ordinance. The third and final reading is slated for the Monday, July 6 meeting and, if approved, would go into effect once it is published.
