Kuemper wasn’t able to hold an early lead and then gave up a run in the top of the 7th and 4 in the 8th to fall to 1-3 on the season. The Knights jumped out early scoring a run in each of the 1st two innings and then 2 more in the 4th to lead it 4-1. The Titans rallied in the 5th with a pair of runs and then tied it with a run in the 7th. A few free passes and some defensive miscues cost the Knights in the top of the 8th as they fell behind 8-4 and weren’t able to recover.

The Knights were only out hit 8 to 7 with Kyle Berg and Truman Haukap each having a pair of hits. Blake Pottebaum, Kyle Feauto and Sam Poland garnered the other hits. Poland had a triple. Jake Hugeback and Haukap had the Kuemper RBI. Luke Hicks, Feauto, Poland and Logan Sibenaller scored their runs.

Kuemper will host Atlantic on Tuesday night on 93.7 KKRL.

The Rockets came very close to picking up their first win of the season as they took Boyer Valley to 10 innings. Dalton Ehlers put the Rockets up in the top half of the 10th after reaching base by getting hit. He moved around the base and scored on a pair of Bulldog miscues. The 2-1 didn’t hold up in the bottom half as Boyer Valley rallied for 2 runs. The rally started with a walk and stolen base, a single moved the tying run to 3rd and scored on a Rocket error. With 2 outs the Bulldogs were able to get a hit to right field that scored the game winner.

Will Ragaller had 3 hits to lead Ar-We-Va. His double was their only extra base hit. Cooper Kock and Conner Kirsch picked up the Rockets only other hits. Cooper Kock took the loss giving up 1 run on 6 hits.

The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 0-3 as they host Exira-EHK on Wednesday.

The Raiders surrendered 3 unearned runs and couldn’t catch a similar break on offense. Head Coach Jason Phillips says they hit the ball well, in fact they had a lot of line drives but it was one of those nights that the ball went right to the defense. The Raiders picked up just 5 hits and only 1 extra base hit. Josh Wernimont doubled and scored Quintin Ludwig. Caleb Villhauer, Camden Villhauer, Preston Mauer and Derek Aschinger all singled.

Sioux Central took advantage of some early miscues and scored 3 runs in the 1st. They added a run in the 3rd and another in the 6th. The final run answered the lone run scored by East Sac in the top of the 6th.

The Raiders fall to 2-2 on the season. They travel to Manson NW Webster on Wednesday.

The Titans fell to 0-4 on the season with a tough loss at home. Chase Scheidegger pitched a terrific game giving up no earned runs in 7 innings. Evan Jacobs and Tryce Lyons had hits and Bryce Smidt drove in a run.

They travel to Newell Fonda on Wednesday night.

Audubon evened their record at 3-3 with a tough win on the road. The final score was a little closer than it could have been. The Wheelers left the bases loaded three times in the game. Joel Klocke pitched a gem and the defense was fantastic behind him. Klocke threw all 7 innings, giving up just 4 hits and 1 earned runs. He struck out 6 and walked just one and hit one.

Offensively the Wheelers had 7 hits with Skyler Schultes, Gavin Smith and Joel Klocke each having 2. Schultes had a double. Marcus Olsen and Gavin Smith drove in the only two RBI while Smith, Joel Klocke, Aiden Alta and Jackson Jensen scored the runs.

The Wheelers rallied late down 2-1 heading to the 6th. They scored once in the 6th and added two more runs in the 7th to win it.

Audubon hosts LoMa on Tuesday night.

Coon Rapids Bayard has struggled at the plate at times this season and it came back to haunt them in a tough home loss. The Crusaders had only 4 hits with 2 of them doubles. The inability to string a couple hits together allowed CAM Anita, who scored in the 1st inning to maintain their 1-0 lead until they added a run in the 6th. Kolby Culbertson came in as a pinch runner in the 7th, scoring the lone run of the game for CRB. The Crusaders had a chance to tie it in the 7th with a runner at 3rd when the game ended.

Both teams finished with 4 hits and left 4 runners on base while striking out 7 times.

CAM Anita run in the 1st came off a passed ball and a pair of singles. They added their insurance run in the 6th with a double, wild pitch and a sac fly. Coon Rapids Bayard scored bottom of the 7th as Quentin Culbertson reached on an error. Jalen Rosenbeck drove a 2 strike pitch down the right field line putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. A balk cut it to 2-1 and Rosenbeck was sitting at 3rd. CAM Anita was able to end the game by striking out the final batter.

Kade Schlepp threw another great game giving up just 4 hits and 1 earned run. He struck out 7 and didn’t walk anyone.

The runs were flying on Monday in Logan as the Wolves scored in each of the first 5 innings while LoMa scored in every inning but the 3rd and 4th. The Wolves rallied down 5-1 at the end of the 1st inning to lead 10-8 after the 3rd. They scored 6 runs in the 2nd and added 4 more in the 3rd. The lead would extend to 15-8 heading into the bottom of the 5th. The Panthers scored a run in the bottom of the 5th then added 3 runs in the 6th and 7th to send it to extra innings.

The loss drops the Wolves to 1-3 as they get set to host Treynor on Tuesday.
