The Fourth of July is this weekend and the Carroll Police Department is already busy fielding calls about fireworks being set off within the city limits. Between Thursday morning of last week and Sunday, June 28, they responded to seven complaints throughout the community. Although fireworks can legally be purchased within the Carroll city limits, there are limitations to which ones can actually be used. The Carroll City Ordinance states that first- and second-class fireworks are banned, but novelty pieces, such as sparklers and snakes are allowed. Anyone with questions about the restrictions is encouraged to ask first by calling City Hall at 792-1000 or the Carroll Police Department at 792-3536. Penalties for unlawful use of fireworks can be $250 or higher.
