In a game controlled by pitching ADM used a 2-run 4th inning to drop Carroll to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. Nick Haberl pitched well allowing just 7 hits over 7 innings of work. He took the loss though falling to 1-1 on the season. Haberl gave up just earned runs while striking out 9.

The offense couldn’t get going as Carroll was held to 4 hits. Carroll loaded the bases in the 7th weren’t able to push a run across the plate. Ty Nissen, Jack Troutman, Slade Sibenaller and Luke Woosley all singled.

The Carroll defense played well with only 2 errors which allowed 1 unearned run.

Carroll will be back in action on Wednesday in Boone on 1380 AM/95.1 FM KCIM.

Kuemper At Creston- Varsity Doubleheader

Blake Pottebaum doubled and drove in 3-runs as Kuemper moved to 8-5 on the season. Pottebaum had 2 of the Knights 3 hits to back Austin Tigges who pitched a gem. Tigges allowed just 2 hits while striking out 7 in a complete game win.

The Knights put the game away in the 7th scoring 3-runs. Sam Poland set it up with a leadoff walk before moving to 2nd on a sac bunt by Luke Hicks. Truman Haukap and Kyle Berg both walked to load the bases. Austin Tigges and Blake Pottebaum both walked scoring two runs before an error by the Panthers scored the final run.

Haukap was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, Berg was walked and both scored on a single by Pottebaum.

Cal Wanninger gave Kuemper its second outstanding pitching performance of the night as Kuemper swept the evening moving to 9-5 on the season. Wanninger threw a no-hitter while striking out 12 in a complete game shutout. Wanninger walked 1 and hit one batter in a nearly perfect performance.

Unlike the opening game the bats came out sharp with Kuemper racking up 8 hits and 11 RBI. Truman Haukap had 3 of the team’s hits and drove in a team high 3-runs. Kyle Berg and Kyle Feauto each added 2 hits and an RBI. All three guys had doubles with both of Berg’s hits being doubles. Wanninger helped his own cause with 2 RBI.

Like the first game the Knights came up big in the 7th inning. They scored 8-runs and sent 13 batters to the plate.

The Knights will host Underwood on Wednesday.

St Albert began to pull away late as the Wheelers built and early lead but couldn’t hold on. The Wheelers scored in each of the first two innings to lead 2-0 before the Falcons started to claw their way back in. St Albert scored a run in the 3rd and then added 2 in the 4th to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.  A 4-run 6th opened it up for the Falcons.

Audubon had 7 hits including doubles from Gavin Smith and Braden Wessel. Smith finished with 3 hits and Joel Klocke added 2 hits. Smith had a team high 3 RBI. Marcus Olsen and Wessel each scored a pair of runs.

Skyler Schultes took the loss going 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 6 runs while striking out 6.

The Wheelers head to Tri Center on Thursday.

Preston McAlister was solid on the hill giving his offense time to wake up and pull away over the final couple innings. The Crusaders led 5-2 heading into the 6th before scoring 7-runs combined over the last two innings with 5 of those in the 7th. McAlister gave up just 3 hits and struck out 4 but did walk 7.

Aaron McAlister led the Crusaders attack with a pair of hits and 4 RBI. Easton Hays added a RBI double and Josh Ramirez had a 2-run single.

The Crusaders improved to 7-3 and will host Ogden on Wednesday.
