A Jefferson man is in jail for the second time in less than a week after authorities conducted a search warrant at his residence. At approximately 9:47 a.m. Wednesday, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson Police Department executed the warrant at the home of 35-year-old Justin Cosnotti in the 200 block of East Russell Street. Items seized from the home include ammunition, drug paraphernalia and controlled substances. Cosnotti was taken into custody for control of firearms or ammunition while a protective order is in place and third-offense possession of a controlled substance, both class D felonies, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Cosnotti was also arrested on Friday, July 3 for allegedly assaulting a woman with brass knuckles and brandishing a knife. He faces one count of third-offense domestic abuse assault, a class D felony, willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony, first-degree harassment and child endangerment, aggravated misdemeanors, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance and false imprisonment, serious misdemeanors. As of Thursday morning, Cosnotti remains in custody at the Greene County jail. His initial appearance in Greene County District Court has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 15.
