The 2020 Carroll County Fair is scheduled to begin next week, but attendance will be limited to presenters and their families only. Board President, Jim Mohr, says the fairgrounds in Coon Rapids just won’t have the same feel as people have grown used to seeing at previous fairs.
Mohr adds the parade, live performances and any other scheduled entertainment has been cancelled to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He says it was the most difficult decisions the board has had to make in the 30+ years he’s been involved with the fair.
While attendance at the 2020 Carroll County Fair will be limited, Mohr says the Carroll County Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach office is hoping to make the fair accessible online by livestreaming many of the shows and exhibits.
Nearly all of the livestock auctions have also been canceled. However, Mohr says they have a special one planned for Monday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. that is meant to support the many 4-H and FFA presenters.
The fair runs from Monday, July 13 through Saturday, July 18. Again, attendance will be limited to presenters and their families. Links to the ISU Extension livestream of the 2020 Carroll County Fair can be found included below.
