Carroll Man Accused Of Bringing Meth Into County Jail Scheduled For Trial In September

A Carroll man accused of bringing methamphetamine into the Carroll County jail has entered a not guilty plea to the felony charge levied against him. According to Carroll County District Court records, 41-year-old Bradley Donald Booher, who also reports a residence in Sioux City, filed his written plea to one count of third-offense possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony. The charge carries a habitual offender enhancement due to prior drug possession and drug trafficking convictions in Iowa. Booher was taken into custody by the Carroll Police Department on Feb. 3 for driving while revoked, a serious misdemeanor. Law enforcement asked Booher several times if he had any illegal substances on his person, which he denied. He later provided a baggy containing trace amounts of methamphetamine as he was being booked. Booher’s jury trial is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 15 with a pretrial conference on Aug. 27. A class D felony carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
