Kenadee Loew was tremendous at 3rd base all night and ended the game with a great catch on a ball that was bobbled by two other players and bounced into foul territory where Loew swooped in and caught it to give Kuemper the win. Camryn Schable popped a ball up between home and the pitchers circle up the 3rd base line. Chloe Venteicher and Jordan Schwabe converged on it and collided as they got to the ball. That’s when Loew who had come down the line and was a couple feet away made the play of the game.

The win moves the Knights to 9-9 as they head into post season play next week. They host Greene County on KCIM on Wednesday. The loss drops the Tigers to 5-10 as they still have a couple home games left next week vs Denison Schleswig on Monday and Ballard Tuesday before hosting the Monarchs Thursday in post season play.

Carroll scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning as Chloe Gallegos singled and scored on a pair of throwing errors on her hit. Ashley Onken then hit the 2nd pitch she saw over the left field fence and the Tigers led 2-0. They would threaten again in the 7th when Sydney Haakenson reached on a fielder’s choice and moved to 3rd with 1 out. Hannah Jorgensen put a bunt down on a squeeze play but Chloe Venteicher came out of the circle and flipped it to Jordan Schwabe to get Haakenson at the plate.

Venteicher was tough after that 1st inning giving up 2 more hits and only 7 base runners the rest of the game. She walked just 1 while striking out 2. Kuemper tied the game in the 3rd inning when Kyndal Hilgenberg singled and Schwabe walked. Brianna Lux came up with 2 outs and drove the ball into the outfield scoring 2. Lux just missed 2 more RBI in the 5th on a screaming line drive to 1st that Ashley Onken made a nice play on after it popped out of her glove to catch it with her bare hand. Hailey Ostrander gave Kuemper their first lead of the game in the 4th with a sac fly to right field that scored Sophie Rohe from 3rd. Rohe finished the night 2-3. The Knights added an insurance run in the 5th when Schwabe doubled and scored on a sac fly to left field from Kamryn Venner.

Kuemper finished the game with 7 hits while the Tigers had 4. The Tigers stranded 4 runners on base. Kuemper left 7.

Rohe led Kuemper with 2 hits while Lux added  2 RBI and Schwabe scored twice. Chloe Gallegos finished 2-3 for the Tigers, Onken had the 1st inning home run and Brielle Hinners added a single in the 7th to put runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs.
