Warrants Sought On Jefferson Man For Striking Cyclist With Vehicle And Then Assaulting Them

Arrest warrants have been requested on a Jefferson man following the completion of an investigation that was initiated after a June 29 incident. The Jefferson Police Department is seeking warrants against 39-year-old Ryan Douglas Patterson for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a serious misdemeanor, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, along with reckless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian within an intersection and stopping in the paved portion of the highway, simple misdemeanors. Witness accounts say Patterson had allegedly struck a bicycle at the intersection of North Elm and Stanford Streets, knocking the rider off. Patterson then exited his vehicle and physically assaulted the subject. The witnesses called authorities, who located the victim in the area a short time later. The victim, who suffered minor injuries in the incident, corroborated the report.
