Sac City Chamber Main Street is hosting a public ribbon cutting ceremony next week to celebrate Corn Belt Telephone (CBT) Company bringing fiber optic internet service to the town of just over 2,000 people. Beginning at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, residents are invited to join city officials and community leaders at the Criss Gazebo to welcome CBT to the community. In the fall of 2018, the company announced they would be expanding their service area to Sac City and are already providing enhanced internet access in the eastern half of town. They are currently working to finish fiber connection to homes on the western side of the community. When completed, customers will have access to internet speeds of up to 1,000 megabits per second. Additionally, CBT plans to host another ribbon cutting and open house in August at their recently completed medical building in Wall Lake.
