Drug Trafficking Charges Pending Against Minnesota Man Following Early Sunday Morning Pursuit On I-80

A Minnesota man faces drug trafficking charges following a police pursuit on Sunday morning that resulted in injuries to the driver. At approximately 4:30 a.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received an impaired driver complaint on an out-of-state vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 80. A deputy attempted a traffic stop and the driver, 26-year-old Eric Fallah of Brooklyn Park, Minn., pulled over after a brief pursuit. The officer detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle; however, Fallah refused to follow the officer’s commands to exit the car. He then sped away from law enforcement, leading them on a second pursuit. Fallah continued eastbound to the mile marker 75 exit just west of Adair where he lost control on the exit ramp curve and crashed. According to authorities, Fallah continued to refuse law enforcement’s commands to exit the car, leading to a standoff. Officers on site witnessed several packages containing narcotics being thrown from the car. Fallah was taken into custody with assistance from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and transported to Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. He was later transferred to an Omaha hospital. Multiple charges against Fallah are pending further investigation, including prohibited acts, a class C felony, and delivery of a controlled substance, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and eluding, class D felonies.
